Why CBD?

With all the interest in cannabis nowadays, it’s no surprise the biggest age group that is most interested in cannabis are the mid-lifers, those between the ages of 45 – 55. And do you know what they are asking about the most? CBD! Why? One of three things I would imagine, CBD for themselves, their kids or their parents.

CBD is one of two active ingredients derived from the cannabis plant; CBD (cannabidiols) and the other is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is known to be the psychoactive ingredient that gives you that “high” euphoric feeling. While CBD is purely medicinal and has a lot of positive attributes mentally and physically, especially since it has been confirmed that we have a natural receptor in our body called the Endocannabinoid System.

CBD known to relieve a lot of different ailments including; acne, anxiety, depression, inflammation, pain and can alleviate some cancer symptoms. CBD can also sober you up from a high situation; say if someone overindulges on a little too much THC, a full dropper from a CBD tincture will set you sober. Even if you are hung over from a night of drinking, CBD has been known to have a sobering effect on alcohol. Amazingly, CBD can counter the over-indulgent effects of a hangover, while leaving one relaxed and clear-headed.

CBD is still emerging in a new legal market and has a long road ahead of itself. Even though certain strains of CBD plants have been around, like Charlotte’s Web. They still need the scientific research or documented cases required to verify some of the amazing claims this strain or CBD has made.

CBD can now be extracted to be infused in many different products ranging from health, wellness, sports therapy, beauty, pet care, beverages, alcoholic drinks and all things edibles. Now the good and bad of all of this, while it is good to have options, too many options can cause confusion. However, with the right research and education, you can find out what works best for you.

Similar to health supplements, CBD can take a little while to adapt to your body and you may not feel some of the beneficial effects until later. There is a bit of a learning curve on CBD, but much like other cannabis products, you need to find out what works for you. Just remember the brand and the CBD count per mg or ml, as brands grow, so will their consistency, and if the CBD count is not working for you, increase your dosage and/or switch up brands.

Remember, CBD is non-psychoactive, so you really can’t overdose or “green out” as they say, if anything you would probably feel relaxed and sleepy at worst. CBD works differently individually, so for personal effectiveness, try micro dosing; starting off small and taking notes. Make sure you research and review the right products for you, stay with certain brands for the short term, in time this way will be able to figure out what best works for you.
